Training for Somatic Sex Educators and related professions, and students.
October 16 – 19, 2020 | Toronto, Canada
Focussing on the jaw and pelvis relationship
This course will be a hands on, fully creative exploration of what is possible at the intersection of bodywork, energy work, spirituality and play.
**prerequisite: intro to massage and myofascial release for SSE’s taught by Ailsa Keppie (this course will be taught Sept. 16/17 in the same space, so can be taken along with the extended course) or approval from Ailsa.
In the 4 days together you will learn:
- about the connections between the pelvis and the jaw for freedom of expression and sexuality
- Specific myofascial techniques for treating restrictions of the fascia around the pelvis and genitals as well as the anterior neck, tongue, jaw and face
- fun and useful exercises in breathing, moving, creative play, voicing, and connecting to self and other.
- To work as practitioner on your own or in pairs or small groups with a potential client, to achieve maximum benefit and healing possibility through myofascial awareness.
- Ways to tie together your own unique blend of healing gifts, through experiencing your own growth and transformation, and facilitating others.
- Cutting edge thoughts and research on fascia and the ways fascia works
This course is based on the John F Barnes style of myofascial release, and will offer Somatic Sex Educators and related professionals or students, the opportunity to deepen their touch skills and sensitivity as well as expand their competency with myofascial release.
What gets in the way? An embodied exploration of restrictions – fascial, energetic, emotional or psychological – that restrict our energy and freedom of movement.
Who are you, as a practitioner, and as a person, really? Touching in on your unique integrity as a human being, and your potential to offer what you choose to yourself, clients, partners, community or the world. Through experiential voice work, qi gong and energy meditations and exercises, and hands on fascial techniques and unwinding. Find true healing and congruence for your own body, and discover your true potential as a hands on practitioner.

Please be aware that this training does not equip you to offer therapeutic massage as a modality. We will strictly be learning basic relaxation and touch techniques to enhance your current practice. This weekend does not focus on genital massage specifically, as this is covered in the SSE training, but we will incorporate all areas of the body in the myofascial work with demos and practice. External genital work is a possible choice for work and gloves will be available. We will be incorporating and engaging the whole body in the training, participants may choose to be clothed, semi-clothed or unclothed. Consent to touch and be touched within the weekend is assumed during practice sessions with partners, and we will be asking each other for guidance and comfort level of each technique only. If you think you may have broader issues around touch, please contact Ailsa directly to discuss your needs before signing up for the course, to see if this is the right fit for you. The course is open to the general public with a zoom call interview with Ailsa as a prerequisite to see if it is a suitable choice for both the participant and the group.

What clients have said
Through her caring, treatments, and easy-going demeanour, I have, I believe, experienced feelings, emotions and a general sense of wellbeing. I now long for more sessions and a better sense of “normal” as I have been stuck for way too long.SS
Thanks for a great weekend in T.O. I feel more confident, and I’m grateful we had ample time to practice and experience firsthand the power of (healing) touch.M
As a New Yorker, I struggle with the perpetual pelvic clench — this takes practice and time to UN-learn of course.
